Capcom is planning to release a new balance patch for Street Fighter 6 on Dec. 2, 2024, that will introduce a variety of character adjustments.
The patch will arrive ahead of a major Capcom Pro Tour event in order to fine-tune players' gaming experience. But many players became less excited when the actual date of the Capcom Pro Tour 2024 World Warrior: US-Canada West Regional Final event was revealed.
Street Fighter 6 Balance Patch
The tournament is set to take place only two days after the official balance patch, Dec. 4, 2024. Many people believe that Capcom made an oversight in scheduling the changes shortly before a crucial competition.
The fighting game has received a number of significant updates this year and a lot of them were released around the time when new DLC fighters were added.
One example is Ed, who came out alongside a major season 2 adjustment patch following the end of the Capcom Cup, according to Event Hubs.
Akuma was released in May 2024, two days before one of the biggest, longest-running, and most consistent major tournaments, Combo Breaker. Many people wondered why Capcom decided to release a new character and balance tweaks shortly before the competition.
Some people thought it was only a one-time thing but then M. Bison was released on June 26, 2024. This was only two days before the scheduled start of the few yearly majors. Combo Breaker: CEO 2024.
Changes to Characters' Movesets
The upcoming patch will also mark the first time that M. Bison and Terry Bogard get any form of changes since being added to the roster. This comes as the former is considered one of the best characters in Street Fighter 6, Esports Illustrated said.
This means that players who will be competing in various major Street Fighter 6 events will only have little time to adjust to the changes. The balance patch also comes before Elena and Mai become playable characters next year.
The Street Fighter X account added that all characters in the game will receive changes to their movesets in the new balance patch. Many people are also giving their own recommendations on what changes should be included in the new update.
These include nerfs to Marisa as well as buffs to Terry to give the characters a much more balanced playstyle.
This is something that has helped Street Fighter 6's balancing team in trying to figure out what needs to be done to make the game more fun, according to Automaton Media.
