It appears Stranger Things Season 2 has already begun filming, if new photos purportedly leaked from the set prove genuine. Redditor hollygorock snapped a number of photos at the Georgia Mental Health Institute near Atlanta — the real-world location of Stranger Things’ fictional Hawkins National Laboratory in Indiana — that show cars, production trucks and trailers on-site. Assuming these were taken recently, as claimed, it would seem Stranger Things Season 2 is back in action.

Lots of cars, production trucks, trailers at Hawkins Lab tonight!!

While the new season of Stranger Things is expected to continue the story of Eleven, the town of Hawkins and the slug-spawn of the Demogorgon begun in the first season of the Netflix hit, it will also expand the scope slightly. Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Matt Duffer (who created the show with his brother, Ross Duffer) said, “the opening scene does not take place in Hawkins.”

So while Stranger Things Season 2 will likely take us beyond the small-town milieu, it’s good to see in these leaked set photos the possibility that we’ll finally learn more about that wicked lab and their strange studies into psychic powers and the parallel dimension, the Upside Down, they opened.

Stranger Things Season 2 is expected to debut in 2017 on Netflix.
