Unlike its sister film, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, Star Wars: Episode 8 has done a tremendous job of containing plot leaks and rumors ahead of its December '17 release date. Director Rian Johnson has nearly completed production on the upcoming installment with nothing but a few gossipy whispers here and there. But as Episode 8’s premiere draws closer with each passing day, someone, somewhere, was bound to spoil the party.

The latest Star Wars 8 rumor is a big one – one that could break open our entire understanding of the Star Wars universe and the mystical power that guides it – the Force. According to “Stormtrooper Larry” (via CBM), Luke Skywalker, Rey and the ghost of Yoda are going to be involved in a major sequence that sheds light on the origins of the Force as well as Rey’s mysterious familial lineage. That being said, this latest Star Wars rumor is, well… just a rumor, so it must be taken with a grain of salt. Still, Stormtrooper Larry previously provided set photos from the expansive Ahch-To set in Pinewood Studios, London. It goes without saying potential SPOILERS lie ahead.

Here is a complete transcript of Stormtrooper Larry’s plot rumor for Star Wars: Episode 8:

Rey (Daisy Ridley) handing a lightsaber to Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) in 'Star Wars: The Force Awakens'

In the scene Luke tells Rey that the Jedi Council became “arrogant” and that they were hiding a “secret,” which led to their demise. The old Jedi master takes Rey’s hand and shows her a glimpse into the past. They see two children playing near a tree on an alien planet. The boy noticed that he had greater strength and intuition when he was closer to this tree. The girl noticed that the tree also made her brother increasingly angry. One day an argument breaks out between the children, and the boy kills the girl. The boy touches the tree and is “transformed.” He kills his parents and leaves the planet. Meanwhile the girl is revealed to be alive, transformed by the tree as well, using her power to start the first Jedi Order.

The girl explains how The Force can be used for both good and evil. She tells her followers that one day she would return as either a boy or a girl, and that they should train this child. Luke tells Rey that the Jedi Order had been searching for The One (reincarnation of the original founder of the Jedi) for a millennia. When they found Anakin Skywalker and thought that he would bring balance to The Force, the Jedi were “deceived” and the Clone Wars were the result. The scene also shows Rey’s parents, and Luke is not the father. Luke tells her how she was identified as strong with The Force, and how she was supposed to begin her training, but never reached her destination for an unknown reason. In the scene Luke gives Rey a choice, and she has till sunset to make it.

Whew, that’s a lot of information to unpack. If true, Star Wars: Episode 8 will reveal the canonized genesis of the Force for the first time in Star Wars history. Remember the previous Star Wars expanded universe has been wiped from canon and deemed “Star Wars Legends,” meaning the events in the movies are authentic histories of the galaxy far, far away.

This new leak also confirms the heritage of Rey, our heroine throughout the new trilogy. This proves once and for all that Luke Skywalker is not her father, a massive question mark for the remaining films (and perhaps beyond?). Also, if Anakin Skywalker is once again examined as “The One” (which he obviously was not), does Rey’s involvement in this sequence imply she is the true Chosen One who brings balance to the Force? Or is it Luke, or perhaps a future generation we have yet to meet?

With such a detailed rumor, it’s impossible to draw conclusions. There’s a lot of potential for error, but Stormtrooper Larry has proven himself to be a reliable source in the past. One thing’s for sure: this movie is going to be epic. Star Wars: Episode 8 arrives in theaters Dec. 15, 2017.
