Are there even any other characters in the Star Wars universe? Following the viral spread of Laughing Chewbacca-Mask Lady, the Wookiee has revelled in the limelight the past week or so. I guess Chewie decided to capitalize on his fame with a surprise appearance at a local classroom outside of the Ceann Sibeal set in Ireland, where Star Wars: Episode 8 is currently being filmed. Take a look at the latest Chewbacca video below:

To some, this is merely adorable, if not slightly infuriating (WHERE WAS CHEWBACCA WHEN I WAS EIGHT YEARS OLD?!). But there is a secret meaning behind all of this. Reports suggest that the man behind the mask is Joonas Suotamo, who was Chewbacca’s double in Star Wars: The Force Awakens in place of Peter Mayhew. If one of the Chewie actors is visiting a school nearby the Episode 8 set, it seems likely that Chewbacca is indeed filming scenes for Star Wars at the moment.

The latest Chewbacca incident is one of many reports out of Ireland regarding the production of Star Wars: Episode 8. Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver and Mark Hamill are in the country working on scenes as well. Hopefully we found out more details about the film soon enough.

Star Wars: Episode 8 arrives in theaters Dec. 15, 2017.
