Star Citizen ’s Gamescom demo is over, and now the team at Cloud Imperium Games is back to work. The latest episode of Around The Verse revealed an increase in must-fix issues with 3.0 over the last few days.

A portion of the 3.0 alpha was playable on the Gamescom show floor, and those hands-on player tests on Daymar saw the build’s list of must-fix issues rise from 67 to 94. Quantum travel, turrets and cockpit interactions are all included in that QA process. The alpha’s mission system is also under review, which means directors will evaluate aspects of the game like flow and fun factor.

Meanwhile, there’s also the odd assortment of bugs that still need fixing. Pictured issues include broken airlocks, characters having trouble interacting with the ground in certain areas and mission giver Miles Eckhart being curled up in the fetal position in the corner of his bar. You can see a screenshot of that sorry sight below.

As far as new features are concerned, the touchscreens found in various shops have been slightly reworked to allow shop owners more room to perform their duties.

All in all this week’s Burndown segment may seem like a downer for those who can’t wait to get their hands on 3.0, but Associate Producer Matt Littlefoot sees this slight setback as an expected part of a much larger journey:

“Where are we at now? We’re getting closer. Obviously with software and with games development it’s really hard to tell where you are exactly at because the things that can really get you in the hamstrings are the unknown bugs and the crashes with low reproducibility.

“All the bugs that we fix with the mission giving and being able to go down to a procedural planet and pick up the boxes and be able to complete those missions is directly going to impact [things], reduces the workload that we now have to be able to do to release 3.0 to you guys, our backers. It’s not a direct sprint. We’ve got to go around the circuit to get there, but we can see it now and it’s being able to realize it. There will be bugs before we get there, how big they are is yet to be determined, but we are there. We can see it and it’s now just being able to focus in and hone into that release so that you guys can play 3.0.”

Beyond Burndown, the actual Around The Verse segment was essentially a supercut of last week’s Gamescom presentation. Chris Roberts and crew recap the reveal of the Origin 600i and the gameplay debut of the Idris. For a more detailed look at all that good stuff, be sure to read our Star Citizen Gamescom 2017 recap.
