Publisher Merge Games and developer Affordable Acquisition have announced an August 18 release date for Slaycation Paradise, a twin-stick action tower defense title for PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Special physical releases will also be made available a month later, on September 23, for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch versions of Slaycation Paradise. To celebrate the announcement, Merge Games also unveiled a new trailer which you can check out below.

Slaycation Paradise is a humorous take on the twin-stick shooter archetype, blending the simple premise of a unique, design-your-own getaway trip with the ultra-violence one expects to see in several end-of-the-world scenarios. In Slaycation Paradise, you play as a vacationer looking for the thrill of their life offered within the confines of the experience. Explore various destinations filled with monsters and enemies, and slay away your worries with a unique arsenal and equipment.

Another key aspect of the game is the tower defense, which players can set up in various parts of each destination. There, vacationers can build towers, turrets, and other defensive machinery to eliminate the hordes. These hordes can be zombies, naked crazy people, humongous Kaijus, gigantic snakes, and more.

Slaycation Paradise also features a skill board system called Slaycation Club Member’s Rewards, allowing players to access various benefits for new apocalyptic destinations, crazy new weapons, or wonderful upgrade perks.

At the time of writing, Slaycation Paradise currently has a demo page up on Steam for players to check it out for themselves. It’s a good one or two hours run for you to see if this game is your jam, and if you’ve played titles like Synthetik, RUINER, and Helldivers, then Slaycation Paradise is surely one title that is up your alley.

Besides Slaycation Paradise, Merge Games has three more games in the pipeline: Pixelshire, an RPG sandbox town builder; Sunny Side, a life simulation homestead builder set in Japan; and Definitely Not Fried Chicken, a business sim that parodies Las Pollos Hermanos from Breaking Bad, tasking players with building a drug empire by acquiring various fronts for it.
