There will be a single-player campaign in Ubisoft's Skull and Bones Ubisoft

Skull and Bones, the swashbuckling naval combat game Ubisoft debuted at this year’s E3, will have a single-player campaign. This news comes from an Ubisoft representative responding to questions from PC Gamer.

"[Skull and Bones] will offer a narrative campaign which will be integrated into the game and will not be something aside of the multiplayer experience. In this campaign, players will encounter iconic characters and memorable rival pirates. More details will be shared at a later date," the representative told PC Gamer.

The focus of Ubisoft’s presentation was online play, and a demo of Skull and Bones on the E3 showfloor revealed one of the multiplayer modes. That said, expect much more content when the game is released. "We only showed Loot Hunt, one of our PvP modes in Disputed Waters," the Ubisoft rep said. "We like to say that this is just the tip of the iceberg of what we have to show for Skull And Bones."

More multiplayer modes will be included when the game is released.

It will also be possible to play Skull and Bones cooperatively with friends. Specifically, it was mentioned players will be able to team up to hunt giant underwater monsters. It also sounds like players will be able to team up to create a fleet of destruction to unleash on the Indian Ocean.

If you want to play Skull and Bones as early as possible, you can register for the game’s beta right now on PS4, Xbox One or PC. There has been no announcement regarding when the beta will begin, or if there will be multiple betas to participate in.

Skull and Bones doesn’t have a proper release date yet, but Ubisoft plans on setting sails in fall 2018.
