Toddlers are now in The Sims 4, but that’s not the only exciting news that came with the January update. A Sims Community Modder, Zerbu, found code from the patch hinting pets are coming to the game. So far, there’s only strong evidence for cats and dogs. Horses only appeared once in the code. The files reveal a ‘sit next to’ and ‘jump on object’ action, which also suggests there could be a differentiation between small dogs and large dogs. View an excerpt of Zerbu’s findings below. Find the full code here.

class Species(enum.Int):

__qualname__ = ‘Species’

HUMAN = 1

DOG = 2

CAT = 3

class SpeciesExtended(Species):

__qualname__ = ‘SpeciesExtended’

SMALLDOG = 4

These aren’t the first pets rumors this year. Back in October, SimGuru Daniel suggested pets were coming to The Sims 4 eventually, and when they do come, they won’t exist as animated objects similar to the way babies work.

Do you think The Sims team is working on pets next, after the bowling stuff pack releases this spring? Let us know in the comments below!
