Silica is now officially on Steam Early Access. This latest title from Bohemia Interactive can be best described as a crossover between RTS and FPS. During early access, players can get the game for $19.99 with the full release planned to be priced at $24.99.

The game is expected to last in early access for nine to 12 months. During this period, lead developer Martin "Dram" Melichárek hopes to introduce significant expansions and features based on community requirements.

Sparked Interest

It was back in early April when the game was first introduced. According to the team at Bohemia Interactive, in less than a month since that announcement, the game had sparked the interest of many worldwide. Proof of this was the over 90,000 Steam wishlist entries along with the rapidly forming Discord community. Also, the team gave a peek into what was happening during the game's development process.

RTS and FPS

The game is set in Baltarus, a fictional planet thousands of light years from Earth. Players have the option to play as a commander in RTS mode or take on the role of an infantry who control all units and vehicles in FPS. The game offers three game modes: strategy, prospector, and arena.

Other key features of the game are:

  • First/third-person shooter.
    • Control any character, creature, or vehicle.
  • Players can leave the commanding to the AI.
  • Choose from 6 unique locations to play on.
  • Single-player and multiplayer options
    • Play alone or with up to 12 people in Strategy mode and 32 in Arena mode.
  • As a human, produce and select from 5 infantry classes and 11 distinct vehicles.
  • As an alien, spawn and shift between 8 different creatures.
