Samurai Warriors 5 announced that four new characters are joining its roster. With this, the number of playable warriors now stands at 27. That’s not all as the game also revealed new variations offered for two main characters. These variations are adult versions of Nobunaga Oda and Mitsuhide Akechi, which players will surely love.

In celebration of these new additions, the game has released a new trailer that you can watch below:

The Story So Far

The game takes place during the Sengoku period of Japan. As war rages across the country, some figures start to emerge in the hopes of trying to be the one on top.

One of these is the great daimyō Yoshimoto Imagawa. He has called on his troops to escort Ieyasu Tokugawa, the young head of the Tokugawa family, as a hostage. While everyone continues to determine what move to make, there is one that already knows what he must do and it’s none other than Nobunaga Oda.

As such, the story of Samurai Warriors 5 begins with Nobunaga, accompanied by his friend Toshiie Maeda, as they try to rescue Ieyasu.

New Characters

The four new characters are:

  • Sandayū Momochi
    • Despite being the head of the Iga Ninjas, he is a friendly and laid-back ninja.
    • He started working with the Oda family through Hideyoshi but eventually did Nobunaga's dirty work after becoming affiliated with him.
  • Hattori Hanzō
    • Former member of the Iga Ninjas, he is now the chief retainer of the Tokugawa family.
    • He works to support Ieyasu and has an inseparable connection with Sandayū Momochi.
  • Magoichi Saika
    • Serves as the head of the Saika mercenaries.
    • Able to survive any battle or assassination attempt, he doesn’t have any concept when it comes to good and evil making him have no loyalty to anyone.
    • This professional mercenary is well-known for finishing any job he accepts.
  • Yasuke
    • A foreigner who has mastered the Japanese language. Yasuka now serves as Nobunaga's retainer.
    • Despite having the qualities of a lone wolf, he firmly stands by Nobunaga.
