Rainbow Six Siege Mexico Major is halfway through the playoffs. All matches are played in a single-elimination, best-of-three format.

Team Empire vs. BDS Esport

Match 1

The first match was played in Kafe Dostoyevsky, which is a defender-sided map. BDS started on defense and had a hard time against Empire as the latter was coordinating well. Still, both teams were even in terms of the score during the first half, which ended in a 3-3 split.

This half-time result for BDS was bad because the map favored defenders. However, after the side switch, BDS seemed more confident about their offense. BDS countered Empire’s strategies and gave them no room to make mistakes. BDS was able to frag their way through and win the game with a 7-5 scoreline.

Match 2

The second map was played in Coastline, which favors teams who rely on gunfights and aggressive plays. This match is usually a coin-flip as the team with a better aim will come out as the winner. Empire started on defense but had a hard time against BDS’ fast execution into the site. BDS had a pretty decent roam clear, which made it difficult for Empire to move around the map.

Though Empire succeeded to split the score 3-3 in the first half. After the side switch, Empire played a slow and patient game. Empire pressured certain parts of the map and picked off enemies one at a time. The patient game made it easy for them during the final few seconds. Empire won the second match with a 7-5 scoreline.

Match 3

The final map was played in Consulate, which is an attacker-sided map. BDS banned Jager to make it easier for attackers to throw projectiles to clear the site. That forced Empire to pick Wamai for his gadget. Empire started on the attack and destroyed BDS by winning five rounds.

This resulted in a 5-1 split for the first half. After the side switch, BDS did a 180-degree on them and won five rounds to take the match to overtime. Eventually, Empire bested BDS in the final battle and took the match with an 8-7 scoreline.

This victory for Empire secured their spot at the finals. There, they will face Team oNe.
