Rainbow Six Siege Mexico Major recently started the playoffs. All are played in a single-elimination, best-of-three format.

Spacestation Gaming vs. Team Empire

Map 1

The first match was played in Kafe Dostoyevsky, which is a defender-sided map. SSG usually relies a ton on coordination. However, after the roster change, it seemed SSG wasn't in a good form. Even though SSG started on defense, they were unable to counter Empire’s attack because the latter had better coordination. This allowed Empire to win five rounds in the first half, resulting in a 5-1 split. After the side switch, SSG managed to get three rounds on attack. But Empire was ahead in the score so they just had to win two rounds to finish the game. Empire won the first map in the end with a 7-4 scoreline.

Map 2

The second map was played in Clubhouse, which is a defender-sided map. SSG is one of the strongest teams in Clubhouse and they innovated many unique strategies for this map. Most of these are now used in ranked and other pro games. Empire banned Capitao on attack to prevent attackers from dumping utility on certain areas like the garage and basement. Empire started strong on defense and won five rounds in the first half, 5-1. After the side switch, SSG started to dominate their opponents and this led to overtime. The overtime match was so close, but Empire won the final round on attack, which led to an 8-7 victory for them.

BDS Esport vs. FURIA Esports

Map 1

The first match was played in Coastline, a map for teams who like aggressive plays and running around the map. Both teams played well in the first half and it resulted in a 3-3 scoreline. After the side switch, both teams started making mistakes, which both sides took advantage of. This resulted in the map going overtime. In the end, BDS was able to win the final round of defense with an 8-7 scoreline.

Map 2

The second match was played in Clubhouse. FURIA started on defense and dominated BDS with a 4-2 split in the first half. After the side switch, BDS seemed to be confident on defense and took the game to overtime. BDS won the final two rounds in overtime and finished the match with an 8-6 scoreline.
