Good news for those excited about the upcoming Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life. XSEED Games announced the upcoming pre-orders of retail versions of the game, including a premium edition. The standalone retail version is priced at $49.99 while the premium bundle for consoles is at $59.99.

The premium edition comes with the game’s retail copy along with a 3.5 inches tall by 4 inches long pocket goat plushie and a large cloth poster in a custom box. The poster and box share original illustrations by none other than series illustrator Igusa Matsuyama.

In Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life, players are taken back to the tranquil community of Forgotten Valley where they work to fulfill the dream of their father of running a farm. As the seasons pass, players eventually finalize their lifelong partner, raise a child together, and even watch them grow up. Whether this child is going to carry on the family’s legacy of running a farm or find their calling somewhere else is something that players need to discover.

The Harvest Moon

Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life is a remake of Harvest Moon: A Wonderful Life, first released in Japan in September 2003 and later in North America in March 2004. It was originally available on the GameCube and later ported to PlayStation.

Players start with one cow, and over the course of the game, get additional and higher quality cattle plus other farm animals like chickens, sheep, and even a horse. The cows, in particular, stop making milk after 40 days and need to be impregnated to continue producing milk. Players also start with a dog and later get access to a car and other pets like a lizard and turtle.

Meanwhile, the farm has three fields, each having different levels of fertility. Plants not only need to be watered at least once a day but also have to be nourished using fertilizers. This way, players can get high-quality vegetables and fruits. Each crop has an ideal season, so players need to plan well or the harvest will end up poor if planted in the wrong time of the year.

While the game’s physical edition is indeed exciting, there will also be digital versions with details to be released at a later date.

Story of Seasons: A Wonderful Life is coming to North America in summer 2023 on PC through Steam, as well as PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch. The game hasn’t been rated by the ESRB at the time of writing.
