With Pokevision out of commission and the Pokémon Go update that has removed the tracking function, players are having a hard time finding some of the rarest Pokémon in the game. However, if you’re in New York City, there’s a group of Pokémon Go players who are doing Arceus’ work.

Pokémon Tracker is a special Twitter account that gathers information from more than 100 Pokémon Go players using multiple accounts who work with Pokémon Tracker within a specific location. In this case, Pokémon Trackers are located in New York City and they walk around all day and report on any rare Pokémon they find.

Using a special code, Pokémon Tracker estimates how long that Pokémon will spawn in that area. Along with the spawn time, Pokémon Tracker gives the exact location using Google Maps, which you can bring up on your phone.

A quick look at the timeline shows the account regularly posts locations of rare Pokémon like Porygon, Arcanine and other fully evolved Pokémon.

“PokeTracker exists because we were fed up with Niantic’s unresponsive tracking system and wanted to provide hope to everyone that they too can find rare Pokémon ,” Pokémon Tracker’s creator, who goes by Cythia, told iDigitalTimes.

If you’re worried that Pokémon Tracker will go the way of Pokevision and other Pokémon Go tracking sites, don’t worry the Twitter account avoids legal issues by not using Pokémon Go in a commercial way and they don’t break into Niantic’s servers like Pokevision did.

Instead Pokémon Tracker “employs” Pokémon Go trainers to do exactly what Niantic wants players to do, and that is go out and find Pokémon.

Pokémon Tracker has been up and running for about a week now and are working to expand to North Jersey and other parts of New York. Once those areas are manned, other major cities like Atlanta, Chicago, Los Angeles and Dallas are next.

So if you’re in the New York City area, check out the Pokémon Tracker Twitter account and set up your notifications to receive tweets from them and you’ll become a Pokémon Go master in no time.
