Pokémon GO Rivals' Week Starts April 13 with 3 New Pokémon Debuting

In the world of Pokémon, most of the time it’s all about friendships but sometimes, friendships are forged from the fiercest of rivalries. To help forge these friendships, Pokémon GO is continuing the Season of Legends with Rivals’ Week, a special event from April 13 to 18.

As if that’s not enough, that same week also marks the official debut of Skrelp and Clauncher to the game. The two will appear in the wilds, raids, and even encounters for Trainers who finish Field Research tasks. Still not enough for you? Rivals’ Week also sees the debut of Therian Forme Landorus in five-star raids.

Here are the other details of the event:

  • Enjoy the Rivals’ Week challenge in the Global Challenge Arena.
    • All Trainers around the world can work together to win Raid Battles and unlock a 2× Catch Stardust bonus for the duration of the event.
  • ​Pokémon known for their rivalries appear more often in the wild like:
    • Hitmonchan
    • Hitmonlee
    • Makuhita
    • Meditite
    • Zangoose
    • Seviper
  • These are the Pokémon hatching from five-kilometer Eggs throughout the event:
    • Machop
    • Tyrogue
    • Elekid
    • Magby
    • Makuhita
    • Meditite
    • Zangoose
    • Seviper
  • Rivalries continue in raids.
    • Pokémon like Nidoqueen, Nidoking, Zangoose, Seviper, and more appear in raids.
  • Enjoy event-exclusive Field Research tasks that lead to encounters with rival Pokémon.
  • It looks like Team GO Rocket is taking over PokéStops more often.
    • Their balloons also appear more frequently.

GO Battle League Update

The GO Battle League started March 1 and lasts until May 31. Currently, three leagues are accessible to Trainers.

There are changes, however, arriving on April 12. The first change is in attacks:

  • Leaf Storm is added to the game:
    • This strong Grass-type Charged Attack decreases the Pokémon Attack stat after use. These Pokémon can learn this attack:
      • Sunflora
      • Celebi
      • Ludicolo
      • Roserade
      • Leavanny
  • Payback is now available to Pokémon that couldn’t learn them before. This Dark-type Charged Attack can now be learned by:
    • Persian
    • Alolan Persian
    • Cacnea
    • Cacturne
    • Absol
    • Bronzor
    • Bronzong
    • Liepard

Pokémon GO also released the list of the most-used Pokémon in the Great League. These Pokémon won’t be allowed during the Great League Remix from April 12 to April 26:

  • Venusaur
  • Raichu and Alolan Raichu
  • Marowak and Alolan Marowak
  • Azumarill
  • Umbreon
  • Skarmory
  • Swampert
  • Galvantula
  • Stunfisk and Galarian Stunfisk
  • Talonflame
