Pokémon GO: It's All About Bounsweet for the May Community Day

It took a while, but Niantic finally released details of this month's Community Day in Pokémon GO. For starters, Bounsweet is set to appear more frequently in the wild. Trainers luck enough may even get to meet a Shiny version. The Community Day is on May 19 from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m., local time.

For the event bonuses, there's a lot for everyone to enjoy. These include:

  • 2× Candy for catching Pokémon.
  • 1/4 Egg Hatch Distance when Eggs are placed into Incubators during the event.
  • 2× chance for Trainers level 31 and up to receive Candy XL from catching Pokémon.
  • Lure Modules activated during the event lasts for three hours.
  • Incense (excluding Daily Adventure Incense) activated during the event lasts for three hours.
  • Take a few snapshots during Community Day for a surprise.
  • One additional Special Trade can be made for a maximum of two for the day.
  • Trades will require 50% less Stardust.

Here are some of the things that trainers can do during the May Community Day:

  • Special Research Story
    • Trainers can access the Bounsweet Community Day–exclusive Special Research story through a ticket worth $1.
    • An announcement is going to be made once the tickets are available.
  • May Community Day–themed Field Research is available.
    • Catch Bounsweet to earn rewards that include Stardust, Great Balls, and additional encounters with Bounsweet.
  • Be on the lookout for Showcases at different PokéStops during Bounsweet Community Day.
  • An Ultra Community Day Box that features ten Ultra Balls, one Elite Charged TM, and one Special Research Story ticket is available on the Web Store during the event.
    • It's priced at $4.99.
  • Two Community Day bundles are available during this event.
    • For 1,350 PokéCoins, trainers get 50 Ultra Balls, five Super Incubators, one Elite Charged TM, and five Lucky Eggs.
    • For 480 PokéCoins, trainers get 30 Ultra Balls, one Incense, three Super Incubators, and one Lure Module.

Bonus Raid Battles

While the Community Day only runs for three hours, there's still something left to do even when it's over. That's because there's going to be Bonus Raid Battles from 5:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., local time.

Trainers will be able to take on special four-star Raid Battles where Steenee is set to make an appearance. Those able to succeed the challenge has an additional Bounsweet appear around the Gym which hosted the raid for 30 minutes.

To join this raid, trainers need to have Raid Passes and Premium Battle Passes. Remote Raid Passes can't be used to join these Raid Battles.
