Ever since the first two RollerCoaster Tycoon games, the amusement park simulation genre has been pretty stagnant. That all looks to change with Planet Coaster, the RollerCoaster Tycoon revival we've all been waiting for from developer Frontier Developments. Check out the first gameplay clips below, which have just been released.

The biggest thing people are probably curious about is the actual roller coaster building process. This is detailed in the video, but looks to be the most free-form approach to coaster design yet. Each piece of track can be dragged around once placed. This will allow for players to get the track to line up just how they want it, without having to be afraid there isn't enough space.

The developers of Planet Coaster also talked about other aspects of the game. One thing they are proud of is how systems work together. An example from the video included the fact that if players put a gift shop right at the exit of a coaster, park guests will spend more money because they are happy from riding the coaster. If the shop is themed properly with the park, guests will spend even more.

Lighting will also be a new aspect to Planet Coaster that others may have missed in previous games. Thanks to better technology, Planet Coaster's lighting will be much more impressive. This means that you can have some bright, happy rides while also having some darker, more scary rides.

One point that was made abundantly clear over the course of the video is that Frontier wants Planet Coaster to be highly customizable. Everything from the coasters, to the lighting, to themes and more are all open to be however you want them to be.

Planet Coaster will be available on PC in late 2016. No specific release dates have been mentioned yet.
