Persona 5 Atlus

On Monday, Atlus released three new trailers for Persona 5, detailing three of the games' Confidants. These Cooperation Links between the main character and NPCs will replace / update the Social Link aspects of previous games in the series. The new trailers focus on your weapons dealer (Munehisa Iwai), curative items vendor (Tae Takemi) and the MC’s landlord who owns a cafe (Sojiro Sakura).

Seriously, these videos are worth a watch for the tantalizing taste of the music of Persona 5 alone. So damn catchy!

Munehisa Iwai Co-op Link

Atlus bio:

“This frightening looking individual is the proprietor of Tokyo's finest airsoft gun shop called Untouchable. Since the Phantom Thieves need to arm themselves against all types of enemies, you can see why keeping a man like Munehisa close is important. Helping him out will unlock a wider selection of wares, discounts, and even an option to customize certain airsoft guns! If you're a gun nut, you definitely want to stay in this guy's good graces.”

It seems as though advancing this S-Link / Co-op Link will give MC reduced prices on weapons for the party (and possibly accessories).

Tae Takemi Co-op Link

Atlus bio:

“If you're feeling under the weather, you may want to stop by Tae Takemi's medical clinic. Even though it's located in a shady alley, her clinic is THE place to treat any injuries sustained during Phantom Thieving. Helping Tae with her "experiments" unlocks stronger health potions and consumables that can help turn the tide during fights. Yes, she may have a dubious reputation, but who else are you going to rely on for medicinal needs?”

As above, it seems as though Tae will be your resource for items to restore HP and MP, as well as negate status effects.

Sojiro Sakura Co-op Link

Atlus bio:

“After the protagonist is given a second chance in Tokyo, he's reluctantly taken in by Cafe Leblanc owner Sojiro Sakura and temporarily calls the attic of the café his home. If the protagonist chooses to help run the café throughout the game, Sojiro will teach him various coffee and curry recipes. How does that help the Phantom Thieves, you ask? Well, crafted coffee and curry can be consumed during dungeon crawls to restore SP. That's pretty important, so be sure to stay on Sojiro's sweet side in order to get those recipes! Oh, and he'll also drop some fun facts about coffee here and there if you're into that sort of thing.”

Sojiro has quite the flair for fashion, with his sharp fedora and natty suit / shirt combo. He’s a gruff, sarcastic sort, but even in the brief clip it’s clear he’s looking out for the protagonist and trying to do right by him.

New Persona 4 DLC

The debut of the new Confidant trailers also brought with it the announcement of a special DLC for digital pre-orders, the "Izanagi & Izanagi Picaro Set." The DLC allows players to use Yu’s persona from P4, and reskin it with some P5 flair. (ICYMI: this isn’t the only P4 reference we can expect in the game.)

Persona 5 will make its long-awaited North American debut on April 4, 2017. The game will feature dual English and Japanese audio tracks. You can pre-order a digital copy of the game via the PlayStation store, here.
