Once in a Blue Moon Phenomenon Happening in Fallout 76

A once in a lifetime update. Bethesda

There's something strange happening in the wilds of Appalachia. The post-apocalyptic world of Fallout 76 is about to experience a phenomenon that happens Once in a Blue Moon.

That's right! The Once in a Blue Moon update is scheduled for June 20. This free update brings the usual game improvements and bug fixes. But the highlight is the two new Public Events appearing on the map at regular intervals, and these will attract new cryptids.

Public Events

The Public Events once the update goes live are:

  • Safe and Sound
    • Blue Ridge has renovated the Middle Mountain Cabins to make them the greatest and newest Brahmin pit stops.
      • The problem is that they can't keep the local critters at bay.
    • The Repeller Speaker system used to repel the creatures and keep their Brahmin safe has been damaged.
      • Clear out the creatures and defend the Repeller and be rewarded.
  • Beasts of Burden
    • Luca Costa finds himself in need of some help after a trade deal goes wrong.
      • A group of local Cultists has stolen his Brahmin and cargo of makeshift explosives.
      • Uncle Vinny isn't going to be happy if he catches wind of it.
    • Be sure not to disturb the local wildlife as there have been some strange rumblings in the woods nearby.

New Cryptids

As mentioned, the Public Events are attracting cryptids. One of these is the Blue Devil, which can be found in the woods. They say that if you look in the darkness of the tree line, you'll likely see a pair of glowing eyes reflecting the moonlight. These same eyes start to hover just around the base of the tree before raising slowly. That's the time you'll see hooked claws reaching out and gripping the fallen tree.

The second is the Ogua that can be seen when you're walking across The Cranberry Glade. It appears as a large strangely shaped boulder, but you'll probably notice that the ground surrounding it appears freshly disturbed. You may want to do something about it but just remember that curiosity killed the cat.

Fallout 76 is available on PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
