No Man’s Sky has a substantial new update available on both PS4 and PC. Patch 1.09 weighs in at about 733 MB. While there are no official patch notes, players have teamed up to figure out what has changed in No Man’s Sky since the update.

The biggest change introduced by patch 1.09 is the removal of the stacking exploit. Other changes include (via reddit):

  • Stacking exploit removed. You can keep using any existing stacks you have, however.

  • Some reports of slightly improved graphics and sounds.

  • Reported that saves are quicker.

  • A report of finding the last missing fauna discovery quickly.

  • Can no longer hold down square while uploading multiple discoveries, nor triangle when moving multple pieces of inventory.

  • Edit: More random findings:

  • Larger creatures seem more common.

  • A report of being able to flee a battle with pirates.

  • Reloading a save is faster.

  • Many reporting the game just "looks different."

  • Report of Day/Night cycle being fixed.

Hello Games has maintained radio silence on Twitter, as has Sean Murray, since the disastrous backlash after the game’s launch. So I guess reddit is our patch notes now. Hail.

While the patch notes may not be extensive, or indeed, existent, at least the patches are continuing to arrive as Hello Games tries to make No Man’s Sky an approximation of the game that was promised . Earlier this month, Hello Games stated the following in a blog post :

"Over the last few weeks since No Man's Sky released we've been inundated with feedback and discussion about No Man's Sky. No matter what feedback you gave us, you have been heard and we are listening carefully. Thank you.

"What matters now, as always, is what we do rather than what we say. We're developers, and our focus is first on resolving any issues people have with the game as it is, then on future free updates which will improve, expand and build on the No Man's Sky universe.

"This is a labour of love for us, and it's just the beginning.”
