While more people getting shot in the face is always welcome, a John Wick sequel is also in danger of over-exposing the ludicrous fictional world of the original John Wick, wherein gold coins are exchanged for human lives, hitman have their own secret hotels and a martial code of honor unites the underworld. The violent fantasy world of John Wick worked best as a thin layer of glitter.

But can John Wick: Chapter 2 pull off something more? Can this absurd hitman world actually make any sense? Do we have to start taking it seriously, like Harry Potter?

The new trailer for John Wick: Chapter 2 definitely promises a lot more insight into hitmantopia, including a look at exactly how all of these underworld contracts get disseminated:

John Wick: Chapter 2 is in theaters Feb. 10, 2017.
