If you're a long-time "Minecraft" player, you know how it feels to survive the challenges in your way. It's the beauty of building a house or a fortress that makes it a top-tier game. Its graphics is never top-of-the-line, but that doesn't mean it's already a hard pass for those who value creativity and aesthetics.
But Mojang is now writing a new chapter in its graphical history. With the "Vibrant Visuals" update, "Minecraft" finally receives a significant visual overhaul, albeit not for everyone.
Minecraft Bedrock Edition 'Vibrant Visuals' is Here
"Vibrant Visuals" is out today as part of the Chase the Skies content pack. This graphical update revives the Bedrock Edition of "Minecraft," and it can be launched today on PC (DX12 only), PlayStation 4 and 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and some Android and iOS devices.
With the update, players can look forward to improved lighting, more detailed textures, and smoother visual transitions, features that bring the blocky universe to life like never before. But the Java Edition of "Minecraft," a favorite of PC die-hards, won't see this update.
Is Your Console Compatible?
Not all devices will be able to automatically handle "Vibrant Visuals." Whereas newer hardware will display the update without issue, older consoles and cell phones might need a manual flip through the video options menu, and even then, performance may suffer.
IGN wrote the minimum specs for PC and mobile.
- Android: Adreno 640, Mali-G68, Mali-G77, or Xclipse 530 or later
- iOS: A12 Bionic, M1 chip and above
- PC: Minecraft on DirectX 12 (DX12)
Despite coming to different platforms, Nintendo Switch and Switch 2 won't receive the update in Mojang's announcement, keeping hybrid console fans in the dark about the support.
New Gameplay Mechanics in 'Chase the Skies'
Though the graphics dominate, the "Chase the Skies" update also introduces colorful gameplay modifications, including Happy Ghasts, Camel Caravans, and Player Locator HUD.
Non-Prioritization of Resource Tubes
Mojang explained that Splitscreen multiplayer, custom Worlds, and Texture Packs are not automatically available with the Vibrant Visuals update.
"Vibrant Visuals" is a long-lost dream that should have happened in 2017. Apparently, it's just a teaser that came in the form of the "Super Duper Graphics" Pack.
Minecraft is now officially tagged as optimized for Xbox Series X/S, which is a big deal for Microsoft's flagship sandbox game.
