Fans who were able to test Ultron's kit amongst training bots were appalled by how the character turned out in real gameplay experiences after initially celebrating the announcement.
Many players who were able to experience what it is like to play as Ultron call the character "bland," and they are now calling for NetEase Games to buff the character and deliver necessary improvements before the actual update.
'Marvel Rivals' Players Find Upcoming Ultron 'Bland'
NetEase Games received praise and significant positive reception when they announced that Ultron is the next character to join "Marvel Rivals," particularly as the villain is prolific for being one of the Avengers' toughest opponents.
That being said, the same cannot be said for the actual gameplay experience reactions of players who were able to test Ultron ahead of launch.
Players on Reddit and other forums have expressed their initial reactions on Ultron, with some calling him "bland" or lacking in several capabilities against other characters in the game. Several streamers have showcased the latest character coming to the game, showing off what Ultron brings to the table as a Strategist, noting that the bot is the first non-flying character from the type.
As a Strategist, it is expected that Ultron should help in healing teammates, but that is not the case for the new character as, based on tests and streams, the villainous bot has minimal healing powers. In the practice range, Ultron's drone that offers to heal is outmatched by the bots, with players complaining that it is not much of a Strategist.
Moreover, while Ultron was touted to be a Strategist who would focus more on dealing damage, initial impressions found the sentient killer bot to be lacking in firepower, even with the character's ultimate skill.
Players Call for Buff to Ultron Before Season 2.5 Launch
According to ComicBook Gaming, players believe that NetEase Games still has a chance to fix the different aspects of Ultron before his launch, which is coming this May 30 alongside Season 2.5's release.
Players are now asking NetEase to buff Ultron before this launch and deliver a more destructive Strategist than what was originally delivered for early access experiences.
The report claims that players believe that NetEase would already nerf Ultron from his renowned comic and MCU representations as the bot could overpower other characters and deliver a mismatch. However, they did not expect it to be this much underpowered in the game, especially as Ultron was believed to be serving a hybrid role of a Duelist-Strategist.
