We won't see any "Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra" action this year. Skydance has confirmed that the studio's ambitious single-player narrative-driven action-adventure title has been delayed again.
From early 2026, the new release window is now unspecified. The studio wants to make sure that the game will live up to expectations for both the development team and fans.
Quality Over Deadline Commitment
In an official statement, Skydance said that doing an ambitious project like "Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra" will require a lot of attention. This means that they won't compromise the quality of the game just to meet the expectations of the fans.
The studio added that this would be impossible if it were rushed, as doing so would not realize the vision of the game, thus signaling that it is focusing on delivering a polished, immersive experience.
Plot and Main Characters
Set in World War II, "Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra" sees Black Panther and Captain America join forces in a fight against the villainous Hydra organization.
Joining the heroes are Gabriel Jonews of the Howling Commandos and Nanali, the head of the Wakandan Spy Network. The game promises a thrilling tale that mingles Marvel's iconic characters with a setting inspired by history.
Skydance New Media's First Major Release
According to Polygon, this is the first title to come from Skydance New Media, the latest studio from former Naughty Dog creative director Amy Hennig, who is also working on a Star Wars game for the studio. With high-profile leadership and a focus on narrative, many fans and industry folks are highly anticipating it.
This isn't the first delay for "Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra," either. The game was once supposed to be released before the end of this year. In May, Skydance moved the date to early 2026, saying the game just needed more time in development.
This "Marvel" game is not alone in the list of delayed games. Even Rockstar's most-awaited "GTA 6" is facing another delay. According to the statement, this would give the devs "additional time" to improve the game.
For the record, its predecessor "GTA 5" was released in 2013.
