Ubisoft finally announced the worst kept Nintendo Switch secret by unveiling Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle with a trailer and release date.

According to the press conference and the Ubisoft blog, the story behind the Mario and Rabbids crossover is that the Mushroom Kingdom is thrown into chaos by a mysterious vortex. Of course, the Mushroom Kingdom crew of Mario, Peach, Luigi and Yoshi are coming to the Kingdom’s rescue.

Rabbids know everything about chaos so they’ll have to team-up with the Mushroom Kingdom crew to set things right. Here’s the official Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle trailer from the Ubisoft E3 2017 press conference.

Players will fight enemies in turn-based battles, wielding ranged and melee weapons while using the environment to take cover from enemies. You’ll be able to choose three of the eight heroes to make up your team during the single-player campaign, and you can swap them out to experiment with different combinations.

Each hero has their own weapons and abilities, many of which can be combined to deal extra damage and affect your enemies adversely. The turn-based combat gives you time to consider each move, plan how you’ll use team jumps and pipes to reach optimal posiions, and make the best use of each hero’s skills.

You won’t be able to hide forever, though as the destructible covers mean you can’t get too comfortable, and your enemies have some tricks of their own to keep you on your toes.

It looks a lot like how Xcom plays and it does seem like there’s a lot of personality in this new title.

Ubisoft also released a behind-the-scenes look at the Mario/Rabbids crossover with Nintendo’s Shigeru Miyamoto to give more context and hints as to what fans can expect when the game releases. Take a look.

Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle will release for Nintendo Switch on Aug. 29.
