The latest Madden NFL 17 Player Update is out for NFL season Week 6 after Thursday night’s Denver Broncos-San Diego Chargers matchup. While there are many storylines to follow so far this season, all eyes are on the players that and whether their play is worthy of a Madden NFL 17 ratings boost or drop. Over the last five weeks we have delved into some of the players that saw changes in their Madden ratings and this is no exception as move towards the midway point of the NFL season.

This week we see a drop for a major defensive force from the AFC and another team’s offensive weapon get a jump in their ratings. For those who are interested in the full list of ratings, go to the Madden NFL 17 Ratings page and check out the Madden NFL 17 ratings blog . Let’s start on the defensive side of the ball.

Cameron Wake, LE, Miami Dolphins (down 3 points to 86 Overall)

It seems that Wake, like the Dolphins, is on a downward spiral. Without Olivier Vernon, Wake seems mortal and teams are starting to see that. Down three in awareness and down four in finesse moves means that Cameron Wake is not a top-five defensive end in the league. He could still be useful as a number two DE in Madden but his stock is dropping fast.

Sammie Coates, WR, Pittsburgh Steelers (up 2 points to 74 Overall)

Great, just what the Steelers need - another weapon on offense. Against the Jets last week Coates had 139 yards and two touchdown catches in Pittsburgh ’s victory and is quickly becoming Ben Roethlisberger's second passing option. For Steeler fans in Madden you have an offense with multiple seams of attack with Le’Veon Bell, Antonio Brown and now Sammie Coates. You could probably do better receiver wise but with an increase of seven in Route Running, Coates could be a sleeper in your Ultimate Team as a second or third string wide receiver.

Zach Brown, MLB, Buffalo Bills (up 3 points to 84 Overall)

The Bills have undergone a resurrection of sorts as they have gone 2-0 since firing their offensive coordinator and their defense has gotten better since that move. Brown has been the beneficiary of the better Buffalo play as Brown has 60 tackles on the season, including nine against the Rams last week. In Rex Ryan’s 3-4 defense, Brown has free reign to roam the field and make plays. If you are thinking about Brown for yourself in Madden keep in mind that even with a high tackling rating, Brown may only work in a 3-4 scheme and nothing more.

Vontaze Burfict, OLB, Cincinnati Bengals (down 4 points to 85 Overall)

Burfict, one of the leaders of the Bengals defense, recently returned to the team after a brief suspension. While it’s hard to determine his play with just two under games under his belt, the folks at EA Sports has seen something in Burfict in his first games of the season. Burfict’s Block Shredding rating fell by five, along with his Power and Finesse Moves ratings. At the end of the day however, Burfict is still an 85 rated linebacker so you have to believe that he is worthy on a spot on your team at the end of the day.
