The hype generated by the Final Fantasy VII Remake is still at a fever pitch, despite being months away from its release. For PlayStation 4 players who can’t wait to get their hands on the remake, there’s a small independent title releasing tomorrow for the platform that’s sure to bring back fond memories of the JRPG that defined the genre.

In a new The Drop post from the PlayStation Blog, it’s confirmed that Light Fairytale Episode 1 will finally be making its way to the PlayStation 4 on November 5. The independent turn-based JRPG title from neko.works first launched on PC a year ago, in November 2018, via Steam Early Access. The full release for the platform came earlier this year in May, followed closely by an Xbox One release back in September. The game is episodic in nature, with the second episode currently in development and on track for a 2019 release on PC. Check out a trailer for Light Fairytale Episode 1 below.

Both gameplay and story-wise, it’s pretty clear that Light Fairytale draws inspiration from the golden JRPG era of the 90s, in particular Final Fantasy VII. Light Fairytale is a 3D turn-based JRPG set in a dying underground world, one that is ruled by a fierce and powerful empire. Following a period of prosperity, marked with amazing advances in the fields of technology and sciences, and excess in all lifestyles, the world was suddenly destroyed in an instant. This led to the remaining survivors fleeing underground, adapting to the only place on the planet it was possible to live.

The game is set thousands of years after this set up, in which the history of the surface of world has been lost to time. A young boy named Haru wakes up one day with a vision of vast green plains and a clear blue void that drives him forward. Along the way, he must embark on a grand adventure to ultimately confront the rules of this dystopian society with the aid of a mysterious silver-haired girl.

Light Fairytale Episode 1 is now available to play on both PC via Steam and Xbox One.
