The upcoming LG V20 may borrow some design aspects from the previous LG G5, including its modular design and USB Type-C, leaks shared by Android Authority and @OnLeaks reveal.

Prior reports suggested the V20 would not feature a modular design, but the leaked renders tell a different story. Lines toward the bottom of the device suggest the bottom bezel could be a separate component. The chassis also includes a button, which could serve as the release mechanism for the detachable bottom.

The LG G5 released in April with the modular feature, which allow users to switch out batteries and add new modules to the device that have specific functions, including improved camera functions and heightened audio playback. The feature has gotten mixed reviews from pundits and consumers. However, if the leaks are accurate, the modular design may become a commonplace feature on LG phones.

The company has noted its commitment to maintaining user customization on its devices. In comparison, many other Android manufacturers are not building devices with unibody designs, which do not allow users to remove the battery.

The leak also shows the LG V20 may feature a USB Type-C port, another feature introduced to LG’s smartphone line with the G5. The symmetrical port has been a breakout feature on many 2016 flagship phones, including the HTC 10 and the Samsung Galaxy Note 7. The port is known for faster charging and data transfer than older ports, like micro USB.

The LG V20 is expected to maintain a design and features similar to the LG V10, which released in October 2015. The device will likely have the LG V10’s second screen feature, which serves as a dedicated area for notifications, frequent functions and common apps.

Both the LG G5 and LG V10 feature a rear fingerprint scanner, which may also make it onto the V20, according to the render leaks.

LG has already announced the launch date for the device as Sept. 6. The LG V20 will be the first smartphone to market running Android 7.0 Nougat, even before Google’s HTC-built 2016 Nexus smartphones.

Rumored specs for the LG V20 include a 5.7 inch QHD display, a Snapdragon 820 chip, 4GB of RAM, a 21-megapixel main camera and 8-megapixel front camera.
