In a post, the team shared that the success of different video game franchises allowed SNK to impose itself as a major player in arcade gaming. This is why SNK continues to release versus fighting titles, one of which was The Last Blade, released in 1997.

The Last Blade was hailed by critics and the game established itself as one of the new references in its category. This success resulted in the sequel The Last Blade 2 being released a year after. Unlike other sequels, this one was able to transcend the concept of the firstborn.

The action in the sequel takes place six months after what happened in the first game. Players are transported to 1864, a period called Bakumatsu. This was the time in history when the Tokugawa shogunate was ending.

For the PS4 version, here are some of the key features:

  • A roster of 18 characters.
  • An epic story set in the twilight period of the samurai.
  • Enjoy playing three modes: Power, Speed, Extreme.
  • Be sure to master the “Repel” technique to counter enemy attacks.
  • Activate either of these attacks to turn the scales of the battle in your favor:
    • Super Secret Slash
    • Hidden Secret Slash
    • Enigma Frenzy-Attack
