Killer in the Cabin is having its full launch on Steam this May 12. The full version is priced at $4.99.
Various updates have added dynamic new features, such as the server browser system, the ability to play with AI bots, and the option for text chat communication. These pushed the upcoming full launch.
In a statement, Games People Play Lead Developer Jack Kristoffersen shared that the game is their love letter to social deduction games and survival board games. He added that during Early Access, they have been listening to the community and are now ready for the full launch. Kristoffersen went on to say that they are excited to introduce the cabin to new players and see their creative ways of taking each other out.
The Story
In Killer in the Cabin, players take on the role of a member of the group who survived a bus crash and is now trapped in the desolate Norwegian mountains. While waiting for rescue to arrive, players need to work together and communicate to survive. They need to gather supplies, find shelter, and share food. However, making the situation even more difficult is the fact that one of the members is a killer who is working to destroy the survival efforts and eliminate the party one at a time.
The Gameplay
The game allows for a maximum of eight players with each session lasting for 15 minutes.
At any point during the session, one of the players can call for a vote and identify the killer. If more than half of the players agree, the player named as killer dies. There is a catch since players won’t really know if it was the actual killer that was voted off.
The one assigned as the killer, meanwhile, has different options but it’s mainly about stealth. There’s the choice to poison food or just one of the ingredients. Strangling a sleeping player is a valid option as well. It’s important to remember that blunt violence is not a good idea unless the group has been thinned out, so to speak.
