Not much is being said about the third season of ABC’s How to Get Away With Murder, but the creative team and cast have shared behind-the-scenes photos offering a view into what fans can expect.

Last week, showrunner Peter Nowalk shared a photo on Instagram with the caption: "First shoot day of Season 3.” The image shows Laurel (Karla Souza), Asher (Matt McGorry), Connor (Jack Falahee) and Bonnie (Liza Weil) in court listening to someone. Also visible in the image are two guest stars.

Meanwhile, Viola Davis shared a selfie on her Instagram page with the caption: “Fasten your seat belts for Season 3.” Noticeably missing from the picture is Frank (Charlie Weber), who leaves in Season 2 after Annalise learns of his role in her miscarriage ten years prior.

Is Weber gone for good? He told TVLine he is still a series regular in Season 3. “You know, it’s not about Frank getting back on the team and going to court,” said Weber in the interview. “He doesn’t give a s–t about that. He just wants things to be OK with Annalise.”

An Instagram post by Nowalk from the first read-through of Season 3 confirms Weber’s return; he can be spotted at a table with the cast.

The Season 2 finale cliffhanger came with the surprising and sudden death of Wes’ (Alfred Enoch) father. Viewers may not have to wait till the end of Season 3 to learn the identity of Wes’ father’s killer. Nowalk told Variety it is possible that Mahoney’s killer will be revealed in the first minute. “There are two options for me — it’s either in the first minute in the show, or that’s a longer mystery because it’s a more complicated story,” said Nowalk.

According to Nowalk, the third season will have a different format. “I like switching it up, honestly,” he told TVLine. “I don’t want the show to become stale. In the back half of Season 2, we had so much emphasis on Rose’s case that there wasn’t room for cases of the week. We’ll probably try to do a balance.”

How to Get Away With Murder returns to ABC on Thursday, Sept. 22 at 10 p.m. EDT/PDT.
