Limited Run Games has announced its first ever localized game straight out of Japan, to be released in the coming weeks and for a limited time only.
The House in Fata Morgana: Dream of the Revenants Edition is set to launch digitally for the PlayStation Vita on May 28 and for the PlayStation 4 on June 11. Both versions will sell for $39.99.
It’s not a Limited Run Games title, however, without a special edition. To that end, the publisher has announced that starting next week, May 31 at 10:00 a.m. EDT and once again at 6:00 p.m. EDT, the company will start taking orders for physical versions of the game. These include a standard edition for the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation Vita at $49.99, and a collector’s edition at $84.99, also for the PlayStation 4 and the PlayStation Vita. The collector’s edition is pretty special, including a physical copy of the game, the title’s official soundtrack on six physical CDs, a 60-plus page exclusive art book and an 18-inch by 24-inch poster.
The House in Fata Morgana was originally released back in 2012 for Windows PCs and iOS devices. It received its first port in 2016 for the Nintendo 3DS, followed by the PlayStation Vita in 2017. The visual novel is a gothic tale set in a cursed mansion, with the story spanning almost a millennium. It deals with the nature of humanity, tragedy and insanity. The premise is quite simple: your character wakes up with amnesia in a mansion, and you meet a maid residing in it. In order to regain your memories, you travel with the maid to different time periods and find out what happened to the mansion’s past inhabitants.
The original release of The House in Fata Morgana for the PC only ran in an 800x600 resolution. Limited Run Games states that they have rebuilt it from the ground up in order to run in complete 4K for the PlayStation 4 Pro. They have also updated the UI and enhanced the overall designs and backgrounds found in the game, making for a completely improved visual experience.
