Publisher Take-Two reported its earnings for the quarter that ended on Dec. 31 today, and revealed some truly staggering details about GTA V. The open-world crime epic has sold more than 75 million copies, which is really just mind-numbing.

Not only has GTA V sold a ton of copies, the number of players in GTA Online continues to increase over time. According to Daniel Ahmad, a video game industry analyst at Niko Partners, there were a record number of users on GTA Online in December 2016. As Ahman says, this is in part to all the new content releases Rockstar made during the time, as well as the return of the popular holiday events.

What’s even more impressive is that GTA V has sold more copies in 2016 than 2015 or 2014. This is even more insane given the current-gen re-releases came out in late 2014 and 2015 for Xbox One, PS4 and PC. This probably shows that as gamers were getting new consoles, GTA V was a must-buy for the new hardware.

As for other Take-Two games, Mafia 3 has made it to over five million copies shipped and Civilization VI is up to 1.5 million. Overall, Take-Two increased revenue by 15 percent in 2016 and drastically increased the revenue from digital content by 64 percent. In fact, 20 percent of Take-Two’s total revenue for 2016 came from microtransactions, DLC and virtual currency purchases. For those wondering why no GTA V story DLC has been made, it’s because there’s much more money to be made in GTA Online, and this proves it.

In case you were wondering how GTA V stacks up to the competition, the sales leader is still Minecraft with over 100 million copies of the game sold across all platforms. It’s going to be practically impossible for a game to top those sales figures, but it’ll be interesting to see what kind of year 2017 will be for GTA V and GTA Online.

So what do you think? Have you contributed to the 75 million copies sold for GTA V? Are you still playing GTA Online? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
