Prior to its release, there was speculation about which album Future would drop. Back in August, Southside spoke with XXL Mag about Future’s latest project at the time, Dirty Sprite 2. During the interview, Southside revealed Future had eight projects ready to go on the backburner.

“He got six more albums ready right now, literally, and three more mixtapes to go with it.”

In this year alone Future has released 6 projects: Beast Mode, 56 Nights, DS2, What A Time To Be Alive, Purple Reign , and now EVOL.

Future tends to release music at a faster than normal pace, but there was speculation about which project he would put out. The album could have been Beast Mode 2, a follow-up to its predecessor released in Jan. 2015 produced by Zaytoven. Ape Shit, a collab with Mike WiLL Made-It, was also a possibility. Or even Monster 2 with Metro Boomin. The Atlanta rapper has hinted that all these projects are in the works.
