Pack up your Coleman tent and your Cup Noodles! Final Fantasy XV’s Chocobros are back at E3 for some PSVR hijinks. Better brush up on your angling skills and double-check your inventory of lures, because Noctis and his besties are going fishing in Final Fantasy XV: Monster of the Deep. Extreme fishing!

Square Enix describes the game as follows: “Players will explore the world’s oceans, lakes, ponds and rivers and participate in a wide variety of fishing challenges, witness stunning details only in PlayStation VR, and reacquaint themselves with familiar faces like Noctis, Prompto, Ignis, Gladiolus, and more.” We’d like to get reacquainted with old Noctis in VR, if you know what we’re getting at. (Wink wink.)

You can check out the bro-tastic trailer for Monster of the Deep below. Looks like the boys are hanging around the Vesperpool region in this clip, but from the sound of SE’s description, you’ll get to explore all over Lucis. It’s not clear yet if we’ll get to see Altissia in VR.

In case you’re confused, this isn’t the Prompto-centric Final Fantasy XV VR Experience that Square Enix released a trailer for at last year’s E3 festivities. Remember that one? This VR Experience trailer did its best to make me hate FFXV before it came out, but the game won me over anyway. Other than the ridiculously OTT guitar riffs, there’s not a whole lot in common between these two concepts, and we’re okay with that.

I’m a bit of a skeptic about VR, but I’d play Monster of the Deep. FFXV’s fishing system is a whole heap of fun already, and adding further depth and complexity in could only make it better. But mostly, we’re on board because we can’t get enough of these goofy dudes.

What do you think of Monster of the Deep? Would you rather the FFXV team spent their time on something else? Or are you ready for more banter and penis jokes? Let us know your thoughts in the comment, and be sure to check back with Player. One for more E3 news.
