An 'Elden Ring' Movie Is in the Works—Is There a Potential Release Date Already?

A director has been named for the 'Elden Ring' live action adaptation.

For those who wished for a live action "Elden Ring" movie adaptation, your wish has been granted.

The confirmation was made by the game's publisher, Bandai Namco.

The movie adaptation will be produced and distributed by A24. As noted by CNET in its report, A24 is also behind the "Death Stranding" movie.

The "Elden Ring" movie has also found its director in Alex Garland, who will also write the movie. Garland is the director behind hit movies such as "Ex Machina" and "Civil War."

As of press time, no exact release date or casting decisions have been announced for the movie.

'Elden Ring'

Released in 2022, "Elden Ring" is an action RPG developed by FromSoftware with a storyline written in part by George R. R. Martin, who is best known as the author of the novels that inspired the HBO series "Game of Thrones."

In the game, the player takes on a character who is on a journey to repair the Elden Ring. Doing so will make the character the new Elden Lord. However, the player will encounter numerous foes along the way that will attempt to make achieving the goal almost impossible.

Upon release, the game was made playable for the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, and Windows. A version for the Nintendo Switch 2 is set to be released this year.

Often referred to as one of the greatest video games of all time, "Elden Ring" has won multiple accolades, including numerous "Game of the Year" awards.
