Elden Ring a Financial Hit, Sold 13.4 Million Copies in its First Month

Elden Ring
Elden Ring FromSoftware Inc.

Elden Ring was one of the most highly anticipated games this year. It even won the Most Anticipated Game Award twice in a row at The Game Awards. So, it’s not surprising to see that the game is a big financial hit as well.

Elden Ring Sales Figure

The magnum opus of FromSoftware has sold tons of copies. In its first month alone, 13.4 million copies of the game have been sold. The 12 million were sold in the first three weeks alone. These are huge numbers and they are only getting bigger by the day. We are sure that sales till May will be even higher.

Sales of Other FromSoftware Games

The entire Dark Souls franchise, including Demon Souls, has also been a major success. As of May 2020, the franchise has sold more than 27 million copies. Sekiro: Shadow Die Twice was a success too, selling more than 5 million copies as of July 2020.

Critical Success and Shortcomings

Elden Ring, however, received some criticism, particularly on its technical aspects. The PC version suffered from major stuttering issues at launch, and questionable control schemes for keyboard and mouse. Thankfully, most of them have been solved via patches.

About the Game

Elden Ring is an open-world third-person RPG currently available on Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PS4, PS5, and PC. You can purchase the standard edition for $59.99. A deluxe edition of the game is also available for $79.99.

Possible GOTY

I think it’s safe to say that Elden Ring is a serious GOTY contender for this year. I know, I know, the year isn’t over yet, and God of War Ragnarok is expected to be released. But I think it’s safe to say that this year’s competition will be tough.

So what do you think? Have you been playing Elden Ring recently? Are you one of those 13 million players who bought the game? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
