After five days of exciting matches, the competition is about to get even more intense as Dota 2 Lima Major enters the playoffs. Six teams have been eliminated and the remaining 12 are now preparing to see if they have what it takes to be the one on top. At stake is $200,000 for the champion and 400 DPC points.

Group A Results

When the division of teams for the group stage was first revealed, it was clear that Group A was the "balanced" one and expected with a lot of strong matches. After all, it had former TI champion Team Spirit, new TI champion Tundra Esports, and Chinese powerhouse team PSG.LGD.

Indeed, the results showed more draws than wins. However, what is surprising is that two teams tied for first place, which were Team Spirit and Gaimin Gladiators. Rounding off the top four were Evil Geniuses and Talon Esports.

While PSG.LGD and Tundra did make it to the playoffs, they’ll be starting in the Lower Bracket. This means they're just a loss away from being eliminated.

Group B Results

For Group B, Team Liquid was the favorite and they didn't disappoint. Of their eight matches, they won six and had a draw with the other two. Following Liquid is Entity in second place with the remaining two teams of the top four being Shopify Rebellion and Team Aster.

Playoffs

Here are the Upper Bracket matches of the playoffs and who we think is moving to the next round:

  • Gaimin Gladiators vs. Team Aster
    • Aster is a strong team but looking at their current performance, we're giving the victory to Gaimin.
  • Entity vs. Evil Geniuses
    • Entity has been showing good performance so far and EG has some of the best players in South America. We're giving this one to Entity mainly because of the high level of play it had to go against in Western Europe.
  • Team Spirit vs. Shopify Rebellion
    • Shopify is doing what it can to show everyone it has what it takes to be a champion. Spirit is going strong even though one of the members decided to leave. For this match, Spirit has the advantage considering that the roster of Shopify has long shown they often stumble at this stage of the tournament.
  • Team Liquid vs. Talon Esports
    • It's Team Liquid. Need we say more?

Playoffs start February 28 with the grand final happening on March 5.

Dota 2 is available on PC through Steam.
