Doctor Who fans attending New York Comic Con 2016 were treated to a preview of the upcoming YA Whoniverse spinoff, Class, which featured only a brief glimpse at the show’s main cast, but a whole lot of Peter Capaldi (the Twelfth Doctor).

The BBC’s official Class Twitter page shared the trailer online as it was shown to fans, the cast and members of the press in the Theater at Madison Square Garden on Friday. The trailer can be seen below.

The stars of Class -- Fady Elsayed (Ram), Vivian Oparah (Tanya), Greg Austin (Charlie) and Sophie Hopkins (April) -- were jubilant after the trailer finished, joining each other in an impromptu group hug.

Class takes place at Coal Hill Academy, a fictional school within the Whoniverse since the 1960s. Former companion Clara Oswald (Jenna Coleman) was once a teacher there. The eight-part series will focus on six Coal Hill students and staff members, and marks the TV writing debut of YA author Patrick Ness (A Monster Calls).

Class wasn’t the only Doctor Who spinoff to get attention at New York Comic Con this week; during a panel with Matt Smith and Jenna Coleman, Alex Kingston hinted at the possibility of a Torchwood reboot.

Class debuts in the U.K. on BBC Three Oct. 22, and episodes will air shortly thereafter on BBC One. BBC America will begin airing episodes of Class in 2017.
