Chronicles of 2 Heroes: Amaterasu's Wrath Now on PC & Consoles

Prepare for a new adventure. Infinity Experience

Chronicles of 2 Heroes: Amaterasu's Wrath is now live on Steam. This 16-bit action game is also available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Xbox consoles.

The game offers intense action, precise platforming, and exquisite pixel art, with the main mechanic being able to switch between protagonists in real time. Kensei is a samurai who's lethal in close combat but unable to jump, while Ayame is as agile as she is fragile. Being able to switch between these two heroes means that players get the chance to access more than 20 unlockable skills.

In the game, Amaterasu and her disciple, Empress Himiko, have managed to enslave the land using the mighty army of yokai. The only hope for feudal Japan lies with Kensei, the samurai, and Ayame, the kunoichi. Using their skills, the siblings need to reach the imperial capital of Osaka and recover three sacred treasures, which serves as the source of power for Amaterasu. Along their journey, the two heroes fight against enemies inspired by Japanese mythology.

Features of the game include:

  • Overcome old-school platforming challenges.
    • Retro platformers may be the main reference, but the dev team wanted to offer the most satisfying and modern experience to the table.
  • Dive into Japanese mythos.
    • Fight against ronin, yokai, and countless enemies inspired by Japanese mythology.
  • Unlock up to 20 powerful abilities.
    • From smashing the ground and stunning your enemies to double jumping and reaching higher platforms.

The Inspiration

To defeat Amaterasu, Kensei and Ayame must find these three sacred treasures:

  • The Sword - Kusanagi no Tsurugi
  • The Mirror - Yata no Kagami
  • The Jewell - Yasakani no Magatama

The team revealed that each of these relics represents one of the three primary virtues - benevolence, courage, and wisdom. Legends say that it was Ninigi-no-Mikoto who brought these relics to Earth. Ninigi is considered as a legendary ancestor of the imperial line of Japan, and he was sent by his grandmother Amaterasu with the goal of pacifying Japan. Ninigi eventually passed these treasures down to Emperor Jummu and became the central element of the enthronement ceremony since 690.
