Boom Beach players will have a new troop unit and the ability to spar with task force members without risking resources some time this month, Supercell has announced in the first sneak peek of the Boom Beach June 2016 Update.

Called the Cryoneer, the new troop will be unlockable at HQ level 20 and is a support strategy unit. The Cyroneer has an AoE ability that debuffs enemy defensive structures and lowers their attack damage, effectively shutting off an entire part of the map by “freezing” sections of your opponent's defenses.
However the debuff affects your troops as well, so a certain strategy will be needed to use the Cryoneer correctly, not to mention the troop’s medium speed/range stats.

The friendly battles sparring system was first unveiled in a recent Clash of Clans update, and it seems to be working well enough that Supercell has decided to port it over to Boom Beach.
Friendly battles will enable you to “challenge” other members of your task force to attempt to destroy your base. However, no resources will be used in these attacks by either party, and replays will be available to study what happened.
Also included in the Boom Beach update is the ability to save troop formations on loadout boats, unlockable at Gunboat level 10, and Legendary Rank, a new goal for what Supercell calls “the highest Victory Point levels!”
