Arrow premieres Oct. 5 and we finally have the official description for Season 5 episode 1, “Legacy.” The synopsis states much of what we already know. Still grieving from the loss of the Black Canary, Oliver fights to protect Star City and live out the legacy of the Black Canary. Remember, we still have yet to find out what Laurel made Oliver promise before she died. Katie Cassidy is set to return in the premiere episode, so we’ll likely learn what she said right off the bat, presumably in the form of a flashback.

The synopsis also gives more details about Felicity and Oliver's relationship. They are still working together from the bunker. Felicity is essentially all he has left, with Diggle gone fighting with the special forces and Thea working as Mayoral Chief of Staff. As it turns out, Felicity is the one who encourages Oliver to form a new team in the wake of Damien Darhk’s rampage last season. Check out the synopsis below:

NEW BEGINNINGS — After Laurel’s (Katie Cassidy) death and the departures of both Diggle (David Ramsey) and Thea (Willa Holland) from Team Arrow, Oliver (Stephen Amell) takes to the streets solo to protect Star City’s citizens as the Green Arrow. With Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) guiding him from the bunker, Oliver is forced to deal with a city that has become overrun with both criminals and a slew of new (and painfully inexperienced) vigilantes. Watching Oliver try to balance his jobs as both the mayor and also the protector of Star City, Felicity suggests he form a new team, but Oliver resists. However, when a deadly new criminal, Tobias Church (guest star Chad L. Coleman), enters the picture, Oliver realizes the best thing for the city might be a new team of superheroes. Meanwhile, the flashbacks take us to Russia where Oliver faces off against the Bratva.

It’s not just Tobias Church that Oliver has to worry about. It’s the season-long villain Prometheus who is the true threat. He has ties all the way back to Season 1 and Executive Producer Marc Guggenheim confirmed Oliver created him. “I can really only say that Oliver bears a measure of responsibility for the creation of Prometheus, ”Guggenheim said in a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly.

We’ll have to wait to find out what exactly that means, but it probably has something to do with the the culmination of the Russia flashbacks, which are expected to be a huge arc in Season 5.

“As the season progresses, you’ll see that there are a lot of callbacks to Season 1. What we’re doing is we’re dramatizing Oliver’s desire to grow, move forward, and evolve, but this concept of legacy keeps threatening to pull him back to the early days,” Guggenheim added.

Any ideas who Prometheus could be? Let us know in the comments below!
