Horror thriller Alien: Isolation may be getting a sequel from Halo Wars 2 developer Creative Assembly. This rumor comes from PlayStation Universe, reporting on a story from the latest issue of Official PlayStation Magazine.

The full quote from OPM is as follows: ''Our sources tell us that after work is finished on Halo Wars 2, a new Alien game may start development over at Alien: Isolation dev Creative Assembly.''

It’s not the most riveting quote, but the news behind it is still great to hear. The original Alien: Isolation provided some of the most tense moments in recent gaming, so a sequel is more than welcomed if it can maintain the same atmosphere of constant fear and dread.

Looking at what publisher SEGA has said in the past regarding a potential Alien: Isolation 2, the idea has certainly been floating around. In an interview with GamesIndustry.biz, COO of SEGA Europe, Jurgen Post, said a sequel isn’t out of the question, despite the lower-than-expected sales of the original Alien: Isolation.

"Alien: Isolation 2 is not out of the question, because we're so proud of it and there's possibly more to be said,” Post told GamesIndustry.biz. But do we really want to be spending very significant amounts of money, and getting close to break-even or just about in the black?”

As for Creative Assembly, the developers seem like they would all love the opportunity to work on a new game. In an interview with AvPGalaxy, lead level designer Gary Napper said “The plot for a sequel is a daily topic in the studio sometimes. People have their own ideas for where it should go, our writers have some solid concepts and yes, we do have a great opportunity to continue her story.”

Napper also teased a potential story for the sequel in the interview. “I personally think that Amanda did not get infected in the hive,” he said. “As when she wakes, the closest egg remains closed…”
