After UpUpDownDown announced they would have a roster reveal for Injustice 2 on March 13, Xavier Woods delivered with the reveal and first gameplay footage for Firestorm.

Firestorm makes his debut in the Injustice games, bringing a lot of range and firepower to the game (pun intended). It seems that this Firestorm is the Jason Rusch iteration of the character, the one seen on Legends of Tomorrow. Sorry, Ronnie fans.

So before we go into how Firestorm plays in Injustice 2 , check out UpUpDownDown’s tour of NetherRealm Studios and their talk with Ed Boon. But if you just want to see Firestorm’s gameplay, you can go to around the 5:32 mark.

The Netherrealm crew accompanying Kofi Kingston and Xavier Woods reiterates how good Firestorm’s projectiles and long-range attacks are. Firestorm has a superfast fireball that travels the length of the screen and is not easy to avoid. If players meter burn the fireball, it turns into a beam. Firestorm can also torpedo across the screen, similar to what M. Bison does in Street Fighter.

His character power is his Nuclear Level, which has three levels. The first level gives Firestorm blue flames. Not much else was said during the video (Netherrealm is probably saving all the deets for a future Twitch stream).

Netherrealm did let fans see Firestorm’s super, where he transports his opponent to a fiery level before he bombards them with fireballs, finally finishing them off by crushing them between two giant atom bombs.

A lot of Firestorm was shown and yet there’s still more information that was not revealed in the UpUpDownDown video, but we’ll likely see more of Firestorm in a future Watchtower stream. We’ll be sure to update you guys when that will go live.

In the meantime, let us know your first impressions of Firestorm in Injustice 2 in the comments section below.
