It's All About Fights When Rivals Week Begins in Pokémon GO this May

Attention trainers! It's time to prepare for a fight in Pokémon GO with Rivals Week. This battle-focused event starts May 4 and runs until May 9.

During the event, trainers can enjoy bonuses like 10× XP from spinning Photo Discs at Gyms as well as 2× Catch Candy. Then there's also a higher chance to encounter different Pokémon like Shiny Zangoose, Seviper, Throh, Sawk, Heatmor, and Durant.

Wild Encounters

For the duration of Rivals Week, these Pokémon are going to appear more frequently in the wild:

  • Alolan Sandshrew
  • Mankey
  • Poliwag
  • Machop
  • Gligar
  • Ralts

Meanwhile, trainers may also get the chance to encounter:

  • Lickitung
  • Galarian Stunfisk

That's not all since trainers can also encounter some Pokémon during certain periods during the event. These are:

  • May 4 at 10:00 a.m. to May 6 at 10:00 a.m.:
    • Zangoose
    • Seviper
  • May 6 at 10:00 a.m. to May 8 at 10:00 a.m.:
    • Throh
    • Sawk
  • May 8 at 10:00 a.m. to May 9 at 8:00 p.m.:
    • Heatmor
    • Durant

Time to Raid

During the event, these Pokémon are going to appear in One-Star Raids:

  • Mankey
  • Teddiursa
  • Swinub
  • Jangmo-o

Meanwhile for Three-Star Raids, it's going to be different Pokémon at certain periods. These are:

  • May 4 at 10:00 a.m. to May 6 at 10:00 a.m.
    • Zangoose
    • Seviper
  • May 6 at 10:00 a.m. to May 8 at 10:00 a.m.
    • Throh
    • Sawk
  • May 8 at 10:00 a.m. to May 9 at 8:00 p.m.
    • Heatmor
    • Durant

Do the Research

Event-themed Field Research tasks are available and trainers able to complete them get to encounter:

  • Alolan Sandshrew
  • Mankey
  • Poliwag
  • Lickitung
  • Gligar
  • Ralts
  • Galarian Stunfisk

Available as well are event-themed Timed Research and those who complete tasks get to earn XP, Rare Candy, Fast TMs, and encounters with event-themed Pokémon.

A Special Weekend

Trainers can also look forward to joining the GO Battle Weekend. It's going to be from May 4 at 12:00 a.m. (local time) to May 5 at 11:59 p.m. (local time). During this period, trainers can enjoy these event bonuses:

  • 4× Stardust from win rewards.
    • Doesn't include end-of-set rewards.
  • The maximum number of sets trainers can play per day is increased from five to 20.
    • This means a total of 100 battles within the period.
  • Free battle-themed Timed Research available.
    • Rewards include the avatar item Hala-Style Sandals.
