Call Of Duty: WWII updates are in the works, according to two new reddit posts from Sledgehammer staff. Players can expect a big in-game event and weapon balance tweaks over the next few weeks.

The first tease arrives from the official SHG community management reddit account. It states that a massive update to fix WWII’s central flaws is due sometime in the “next couple of weeks.” The exact contents of the patch were not revealed, but the source suggests players can expect a huge onslaught of improvements similar to the 1.07 title update at the beginning of December. Above all, it’s promised that the upcoming adjustments are a direct response to community feedback.

In addition to this update, Sledgehammer is also hard at work to polish January’s Resistance DLC and prepare for a “big in-game event” in the near future. While not confirmed, plenty of fun festivities are possible around Valentine’s Day. There isn’t much to show today, but the development studio wants its fans to know they’re being heard.

A similar sentiment was expressed by game Director Michael Condrey in a reddit post from Friday afternoon. As most of his social media posts focus on weapon balance, this one was no different. Here are a few changes players might see implemented very soon.

  • Kar98k: It’s the second most damaging sniper, and it also has the quickest scoping time. An ADS in-time nerf is being considered.
  • FG42: The plan is to continue tweaking its fire rate after the previous nerf.
  • M1 Garand: The fire rate, pull-up time or reload time may be nerfed to make the rifle less OP.
  • STG44: May need a general buff to stay competitive

While Condrey’s list is specific in terms of the tweaks it mentions, he was careful to remind players that some of these changes may not make its way to the final game. As weapon balance is constantly being evaluated in conjunction with any gameplay changes in title updates, some suggestions listed here may not be necessary to keep the weapon roster feeling strong.

This recent show of transparency is especially helpful considering it’s been nearly a month since Call Of Duty: WWII was last updated in any significant way. A 1.08 patch was dispatched earlier this week across all platforms, but it only worked to remove last month’s Winter Siege event.

Despite the silence, it’s clear Sledgehammer is working quickly to deliver as much content as it possibly can. Soldiers should see the results of those efforts soon.

Call Of Duty: WWII is available now on PS4, Xbox One and PC. A 2XP event is happening now through Jan. 8.
