Call Of Duty: WWII players can enjoy 2XP yields starting today through Jan. 8. Sledgehammer Games revealed the news in a tweet Thursday afternoon.

“Double XP and Double Weapon XP incoming for Call Of Duty: WWII Multiplayer and Nazi Zombies this weekend,” the message reads. “Please plan accordingly. Vive la résistance!”

That last bit, of course, is a reference to WWII’s Resistance DLC planned to launch on PS4 at the end of the month. Specific times are not listed for the event, but 2XP generally kicks off around 1 p.m. EST.

If you were thinking about getting a squad together to tackle that Hardcore Easter egg in Zombies or feel the standard multiplayer XP yields are too low since being nerfed, now would be the time to capitalize on the advantage. Extra levels mean more unlocks, and more unlocks mean more loot. The path to Prestige is a tough one, so leveraging XP boosts when they happen can be an essential part of the process.

In the Infinite Warfare era these 2XP events often came off as a cheap way to briefly expand a shrinking audience, but the opposite is true when it comes to WWII. Since its launch in November, the game has set sales records for Activision, and it’s continued to dominate the U.K. sales charts for several weeks. Call Of Duty: WWII is on a hype train that can’t be stopped, and buffing XP for a little while will keep that momentum going.

As a player, it also doesn’t hurt to reacquaint yourself with the multiplayer mechanics before the Resistance DLC arrives. Per the recent Call Of Duty standard, the season pass expansion adds four new maps and a Zombies chapter. The only real difference this time around is that one of those maps is exclusive to the all-new War mode. Operation Intercept puts players in control of the French Forces Of The The Interior to rescue fellow resistance fighters. A full description of the other new additions can be found here.

Call Of Duty: WWII is available now on PS4, Xbox One and PC. 2XP will run through Jan. 8.

Will you be playing Call Of Duty this weekend to scoop up that extra XP? Is it enough to bring you back? Tell us in the comments section!

While it’s not a perfect game, Call Of Duty: WWII knows the expectations it has to meet and hits almost every single one of them fairly well.
  • Action-packed campaign
  • Traditional multiplayer at its best
  • A more welcoming Zombies mode
  • Predictable story
  • Small multiplayer maps
  • Post-launch server issues
