Ys IX: Monstrum Nox Patch 1.0.6 Brings New Features, Improved LOD, and More

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox
Ys IX: Monstrum Nox Nihon Falcom

Ys IX: Monstrum Nox was released on PC a couple of weeks ago. The game’s reception has been quite positive, however, some criticism was focused on the lack of features. It’s good to know that these criticisms aren’t falling on deaf ears as the developer released an update today, which brings more features, improves visuals, and fixes some minor bugs.

Draw distance of the game has been improved. Now, you can select the “Lunatic” setting for DD, which is higher than Ultra. Keep in mind that the “Lunatic” setting is reserved for very high-end and future-proofed PCs. So if you don’t have a PC like that, then you shouldn’t select this option.

The update also made sure to add support for borderless window mode for secondary screens. From now on, the game will remember the monitor you've used in multi-monitor systems. The screensaver will also not be activated when the game is running. We have mentioned the rest of the changes below:

  • Added remapping of confirm and cancel actions
  • Added mouse wheel support for scrollable lists and journal when mouse menu navigation is off
  • Added mouse wheel support for message log
  • Fixed vibration only working for controller with ID 0
  • Improved save game menu navigation by disabling page-wise scrolling for left stick
Draw Distance/LoD
  • Made draw distance setting apply to sub-map level of detail selection (see notes below)
  • Make draw distance setting apply to more object types (see notes below)
  • Fix calculation of draw distance applied to objects when changing the setting in the menu
  • Fix distance fadeout of objects being closer towards the center of the screen than at an angle
  • Fix specific boulders not starting to move in some situations at framerates ~>100 FPS
  • Updated credits

Note: Due to the additional graphics improvements now associated with the draw distance setting, higher levels will have a somewhat higher performance impact than on the previous version.

The complete patch notes are available on the official site as well.

So what do you think? Are you interested in any of these changes? Are there any more features that you want the developer to add? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
