Nightwave, the latest content addition to the hugely-successful free-to-play game Warframe, makes its debut with its first series of story challenges titled The Wolf of Saturn Six. The content release has players undergoing difficult endgame challenges to earn new and exclusive rewards in each of the series’ 30 challenge tiers. The Nightwave challenges will be presented as a pirate radio broadcast that tells an exciting new story over a period of weeks. Through Acts, which are daily and weekly challenges in the series, players can also earn bonus rewards, including exclusive, limited-time items.

The Nightwave release brings plenty of new endgame content for Warframe's massive player-base. Nightwave rewards include the new Wolf Cred currency, which can be used to acquire items that a player may have missed through the game’s innovative Alert System mechanic. Defeating higher-tier challenges also rewards the player with bigger and better loot, including the new Wolf Howl emote, additional weapon slots, and an Umbral Forma item in higher tiers. Completing all the challenges in Nightwave’s Series One will earn players the exclusive Saturn Six Armor bundle.

With the sheer size and quality of this content update, its hard to remember that The Wolf of Saturn Six is only the first series in Warframe’s Nightwave initiative. Fans on reddit have praised Warframe developer Digital Extremes for releasing content that can be enjoyed by new and veteran players alike, all on an entirely free-to-play platform that is devoid of any pay-to-win mechanics or pay-walls barring players from content.

Warframe is a free-to-play looter shooter that launched in 2013. Since then, the game has enjoyed numerous content updates and a player-base that’s 38 million strong. The latest content update, Nightwave, is out now and live on PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
