In spectacular fashion, Suda51 manages to break some hearts again as it’s revealed that no, his teased announcement is not No More Heroes 3.

During this year’s MomoCon where Goichi Suda AKA Suda51 was one of the key guests, the esteemed Japanese developer instead revealed that his studio is instead working on the upcoming PC and PlayStation 4 ports for their latest title Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes, which was released for the Switch back in January. Check out the trailer for the Switch release below, as well as the official tweet from Grasshopper Manufacture, the developer behind the series.

You may remember that the original listing for Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes stated it as a Nintendo Switch exclusive. Square Enix’s Octopath Traveler will also see a PC release on June 7, despite arriving on the Switch exclusively last year. It is still unclear what titles are eligible for such releases, although going by the recent examples, it wouldn’t be far off to suggest that it’s not a full exclusive unless Nintendo is directly involved in the publishing.

Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes is the third Travis Touchdown title, although Suda51 himself likes to reiterate that he does not consider this game a direct sequel to No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle. Unlike the other games in the series, Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes is played from a top-down perspective, and largely has platforming and role-playing elements. This does not mean that it’s an entirely different beast, either; combat is still hack and slash, much like its predecessors. The perspective also shifts at times during gameplay, which is quite reflective of the two previous No More Heroes titles. Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes also introduces some returning gimmicks and minigames from the previous games, which does cement it as an actual No More Heroes title.

As many fans have echoed, I was hoping when the news first broke about Suda51 at MomoCon the announcement to be made would be for to No More Heroes 3. While it is kind of disappointing, it is cool to see the port happening, as more people will now get to play the Travis Strikes Again. Who knows, maybe with the added sales Grasshopper Manufacture can fund development for No More Heroes 3 next time around.
